Hello fishing lovers! A few days ago I went fishing down in Port O’Connor, and man was it crappy weather. The first day we went out to the jetty. There were ten foot waves riding higher than the jetty, and the boat was on one, riding it like a surf board! We went around the other side of the jetty, but it was way too muddy water to fish in, so we went back around the jetty to the old Coast Guard station, where it was protected from wind and current. I hooked on a small shrimp and cast out by the station. And right when it hit the bottom I got a nice bite! Then I got another, then another! I set the hook and fish on! It was a huge Sheep Head! We decided to keep them, and boy was that a smart move! I cast back into the water and sure enough I got hit again! Then my Grandad got in on the action. By the time we were done, we had six big keeper Sheep Head (and about ten that were too short). That was the first day. The second day it was even worse weather! We went straight to the back lakes where it was more protected. We thought casting sardines on the bottom would catch a red fish. We also cast an artificial lure and a bobbing cork with a shrimp. But we only got one bite on the sardine, and that was it. We decided to check out the Coast Guard station even though it was not good odds that it was going to be calm. But it was okay to fish at, so we did. And right away we got fish on! We decided not to keep them because they were smaller. But we caught a lot of Sheep Head! A bad fishing day made a one-eighty!
