What I Feed My Pet Sunfish

Hi fish lovers! As you guys may know, I recently purchased a aquarium and have made a real ecosystem inside. I had minnows (which they ate), I have Two Green Sunfish, A small Perch and a new addition, a Cichlid which I caught the other day in Canyon Lake and moved to my aquarium in a bait bucket without an aerator! I also have some fake grass, ivies and other plants, and I have real gravel, rocks, logs, and even a real plant and lily pad! They love the aquarium, but they are often hungry! I like to feed them mostly live things, so that they feel like they are still in the wild hunting for there own food, and if for some reason one day I have to put them back in the wild, they will still know how to hunt. Now let’s get to what I feed them. I feed them Crickets and Grass Hoppers because the motion they make in the water draws much attention, and I know they love them because my dad and I caught most of them on a Grass Hopper fly! The next thing I feed them is Rosy Red minnows. They are pretty big, but the perfect fit. The bigger fish will co exist with them while they are fool, but when they get hungry, it is game over for the minnows. I also let them eat algae off the plants. They seem to like it, and it is what they do in nature. Fresh Water Shrimp are another way to go. They sell some that are less than an inch long, and they can hide and survive for a few hours, but the fish will find them! Last but not least is their favorite meal: Super Worms! They are like Meal Worms, but the shell is softer and they are bigger. I cut them into thirds and throw them in and they do not last five seconds.

That pretty much wraps it up for today, so see you next time on Hudson’s Fishing Adventures! Bye!
