Hey guys! The other day I got my very first kayak! I had wanted one for a while, so we did a ton of research. They sell kayaks, at Walmart, Dicks sporting goods, Bass Pro Shops, Cabelas, Amazon and Academy. I found hundreds of kayaks online, but they where all pretty expensive. We looked at Dicks sporting goods, and they had a decent on for about $550.00. After going home and thinking about it for a while, then we found Academy Kayaks. We found one we really liked for about $500.00, but we decided to wait.
Then, after more research, we decided that kayak was our best bet, so we went to go and get it. When we got there, they did not have the kayak we had seen there a few weeks before. At first I was bummed out, but then we found a super cool kayak and it was only $467.00! We told the Academy crew we wanted it, and about ten minutes later we where on our way to a lake with a kayak in the back of our truck! When we got to the lake, I jumped in it and tested it.
It was pretty easy to turn and was really steady! I was supposed to just test it out, but I brought my old Shakespeare Ugly Stick rod and reel combo with a Beetle Spinner tied on ten pound braid. Then I paddled over to some sunken branches next to boulders and an overhanging tree. I was LOVING the Kayak, and would FOR SURE suggest Academy Kayaks.
I would get hit every cast, and I had about a two pound Bass on, but he jumped out of the water and spit it out. After about five more minutes of fishing from the kayak, I caught a decent sized Green Sunfish.
I then paddled back to the boat ramp, and we put it in the truck and went home. This Kayak was super cool and well worth the money.
