Hi guys! I am so sorry I have not posted any blogs for a few weeks. We have been sooooooo busy! Don’t worry though, I am finally free on summer break and ready to fish and blog! Today I will be sharing what happened in Colorado. So to start off, they had almost record breaking snow fall which means run off (when snow melts creating rivers down and around mountains) this year was so fast and had so many rapids it was unfishable. We also had scheduled a day to white water raft, but they canceled it because the rapids were to dangerous. So that meant we could only fish in lakes. We where all bummed until in Durango, Colorado we found a small lake called Lake Nighthorse. It was super pretty! We went fishing with braid down to a fluorocarbon leader with a trouble hook and floating Trout bait with a weight a ways under it. I got tons of hits and had a few fish on, but did not get in any fish. The next day we went to the same spot with the same rig, and today was the day! I hooked and reeled in about a two pound Rainbow Trout! While my dad was unhooking it, he realized there was someone else’s hook and line in the fishes mouth! Our hook popped right out, but the other hook tore up the fishes gut when my dad pulled it out. We threw the fish back, but it immediately flipped to it’s belly and sat there dead looking for about five minutes. My sister was crying, so we all prayed to God to help the fish, and it miraculously started kicking and swimming, and finally flipped over and swam off to the depths! We named him Lazarfish like the guy in the Bible, Lazareth, who died but Jesus brought him back to life! Sadly we had to cut the trip short because I started having a minor case of altitude sickness, but it was so worth it! It really was a humbling moment to me, because I was sure we where going to catch bucket loads of fish, but sadly we did not. But looking at the jar half full, it was still an awesome trip, and we saved one little fishy’s life!
See you next time on Hudson’s Fishing Adventures. Bye!
