A Truck Load Of Bass Part 2

Hey fellow fishing lovers! I’m back with part two of A Truck Load Of Bass! If you didn’t read part 1 of his blog, all you have to do is click HERE to check it out before this one! So, let’s jump right back into what happened.

We had three fish and lost four lures, not a great start, but we were not going to give up yet! We looked on Google Earth and there appeared to be a second much smaller pond on his property, so we called him. Doug, the guy who owns the property, said that was the original tank, and nobody had fished in it for years! He said there used to be five pounders in there, but a few years back, it went just near dry, so he was not sure if there would be any big Bass in it still

He said we could go try it out though, so we did! When we got there, we realized it was only about two feet deep in the middle. Both of us still tried it out, but nothing. We fished it for about thirty minutes, but only saw frogs and small Blue Gill (which can survive in just inches of water), so we went back to main pond. We tried all up and down the right side, but still nothing. Then, we accidentally drove up on the wrong gate while moving spots. We decided to open it and drive through to see where it went.

After driving for a minute, we realized it was a dirt road to the back of the pond against the damn where we thought we couldn’t get to! We got down and started fishing with the wind, which allowed us to cast a mile! My grandad was fishing with a Texas rigged sanko worm weightless, and was getting hammered every cast! I was throwing a weighted worm, but I was not getting hit.

My dad decided to change to a big white spinner bait with two shiny spinning blades, and that’s when he got hit every single cast! It turned out all the bass moved to the deep side of the lake where we were to get away from the cold air. I ran as fast as I could to the truck, found a white/lime green spinner bait the same size as the one my dad was throwing, and it also had two blades like my dad’s, and tied it on my rod. I casted out a few times and then, with a mid retrieval speed, got hammered! That’s where the title of this blog comes in, a truck load of Bass!

We started loading the cooler with fifteen inch Bass! And after about an hour, caught our limit, and released about ten! After we loaded the cooler, we started fishing for fun! Then, out of nowhere, I caught about a six inch Bass, perfect for a pet! And luckily I figured this might happen, so I brought my bucket and bubbler! I filled it with water and turned on the pump. I set him in, and later we took him home! Check out my youtube channel for more on the new Bass!

We were about to leave, the fish were slowing down, the sun was setting, and we were hungry! I decide to take a few more casts when wham! My lure got hammered! I reeled it in to see a wide, shiny body, that was not a Bass! I though it was a Flounder! Then I remembered I was fishing in freshwater. I lifted it onto the grassy bank to see one of the biggest blue gill in my whole life! After snapping a photo, we set him in the cooler, packed up the rest of our gear, and headed home. A bad fishing day turned into one of the best!
