My New Upgraded Mega Pond!

Hey fellow fish lovers! Today we are not going to be talking about fishing as much as just fish! I this blog I am going to be telling y’all about my brand new MEGA POND!

So if you guys also watch my YouTube videos on my channel, you will know that about two months ago, I made a mini pond  out of an old deer trough. It worked perfectly for those two months, but, we added more Blue Gill. The Craw Fish reproduced, and, as y’all know from my last blog, we added the first Bass to it, so it just did not have enough room.

This was about the size of our new pet Bass!

With all the fish, and of course fish waste, the water became very murky and unhealthy. Me and my dad felt bad for the fish, so we decided it was time to upgrade! My dad and I went to a Tractor Supply store to see if they had any better, stronger, and of course larger options.

And indeed they did! The one our fish were in at that time was about a fifty gallon. The one we chose was a hundred and ten gallon! Nearly three times the size of the old one! We went straight from the Tractor Supply store to a Petco, were we got three artificial but realistic looking hollowed out logs, each had small holes for little fish to get into and hide from bigger fish. Each one was a different color, size, shape and had differing amounts of artificial plants attached to it. Then we got two big bags of gravel, a lot of artificial plants, and then we got some live plants. Last but not least we got forty Rosy Red Minnows for the fish we were moving from the old mini pond to the new mega pond!

We went home, washed out the tub, gravel, and all the fake logs and plants. This helps any topcoat chemicals on the plastic to be washed off, so it will not harm your fish. Then, we started decorating! We poured the gravel in,  and added the logs and artificial plants. Then we added the live plants, which helps clean and freshen the water. It also gives the minnows and Craw Fish a snack, and adds some realistic flair! We also added some natural creek rock and river rock from around our yard. Then we started filling the pond (while slowly adding water conditioner).

Once it was filled to a few inches deep, we added the cray fish from the old mini pond! They loved it! They explored for a minute, then went into the rock home we made them! After the water level passed the foot mark, we started slowly adding the minnows. Then, when it was finally full, we started netting the fish out of the mini pond and releasing them into the new mega pond!

After we confirmed there were no more fish in the mini pond, we drained the water and rinsed off the old decorations from the mini pond. Next we added those decorations into the mega pond to! The whole thing is aerated with a Bubbles Commercial Air Pump, which has been working great for over two months now! We also added a small water fall filter pump, just to ensure the water stay properly cleaned and oxygenated.
