The Meg

Hi fellow fishin’ lovers! Today I will be blogging about the new Baby Bass in my tank and how we caught him. So the other day we went to a beautiful park that had a small creek running threw it. It was only a few feet wide and an inch deep, but we decided to follow it. After awhile, we came across a amazing few foot deep, twenty foot wide babbling brook! The water was crystal clear, and a sandy and gravely bottom. And all you could see was schools of big Green Sunfish! And, best part they allowed fishing! We did not have any rods, reels, or tackle on us, so we just enjoyed the creek, went home a few hours later and came back a few days later ready to go! All we brought was my small tackle box, three rods, and my Cabelas bucket and bubbler. I was throwing a small splitshot about a foot above my smallest micro jig head and hook, and wacky rigging a Flunkers Freezer dried cricket. I was casting it out, letting it sink, and slowly jigging it across the bottom. I was using my Ugly Stick rod and reel combo, and boy was I hammering some Green Sunfish! My dad was throwing a small Crayfish crank bait with a Crayfish claw trailer, but no luck. He switched over to the trusty small white Rooster Tail, which I have caught Gar, Bass, Sunfish and even Catfish on, and started hammering fish. Some people started showing up and swimming in the creek, which scared away the fish, so we decided to move. I went about twenty feet closer to this pair of rapids, and did not do to well. But while I was not catching anything, my dad waded about a hundred yards down the creek, and was fishing down stream right into a pocket of slow moving water, right after some rapids. My dad was catching fish after fish on the Rooster Tail, and that’s when…he caught a baby Spotted Bass! It was perfect size for the Aquarium, so I sprinted over as fast as I could, my dad unhooked it and set it in my hat, I held my hand over my hat, ran back and put him in the bucket and bubbler filled with water. I turned on the bubbler and checked on him, and he was doing great! When we got home I set him in the tank, and after a few days, he started eating Rosy Red minnows as fast as he could, so I decided to name him The Meg, after the new movie, The Meg! And if you watch it (with an adult) you’ll understand!

Now it has been a few weeks since The Meg has moved in, and he is still doing great! That is pretty much it for this blog, so see you next time o Hudson’s Fishing Adventures! Bye!
