Horseshoe Bay Fishing Adventure

Boerne lake

Hi, it’s me, Hudson! Last Saturday me and my dad went fishing in lake LBJ in a cove that in the past we had had some luck. We went in my fishing boat, it took a whole 15 minutes just to get there! When we got there, it made me and my dad very sad to see that where there used to be a grass ledge was now a concrete wall and gravel where somebody was building a house. Where we used to catch perch and bass was now where we couldn’t catch anything. We were very upset because for about an hour my dad had only caught 1 keeper. Then I switched to a different lure and we moved to a little cove with only one Bluegill in the ice box and my dad cast in the shade with a rooster tail (in a previous blog) and caught a Bluegill the size of a frisbee and while he was putting it in the ice box I reeled in another keeper Bluegill and then, a little bit later we reeled in two more keeper perch. So far, we had five perch in the ice box and the fishing was slowing down so we were about to leave when I casted a jig (I had gone through three of because of fish hitting it) right next to a pole holding up a dock right next to the shore in some shade (ideal fishing spot) and hooked a fish I thought was a perch that was not even a keeper, but when I got it close to the boat it took off taking line and took my rod under water! My dad had to take the rod while I got the net and we got it in! And the happily ever after was we could have a fish fry!

Look down to see the bass and frisbee sized Bluegill, the rest of the perch, and the yummy dinner!             – Hudson
